For 84 years, students have walked the same hallways at Fremont High School, following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. But on the south side of town a new era is taking shape — a new high school that reflects both the conservative values of a community rooted in its agricultural past and the technological advances in learning needed to prepare students for the world outside their small town. We found out yesterday that Fremont Middle School will be audited in December by state and federal officials, regarding our programs, core curriculum, professional development, and parent involvement. This is a great opportunity for us to take a look at our school improvement process, how are teachers are teaching, how the office staff is doing, and how the principal is principaling! The audit involves interviews with all stakeholders including parents, students, support staff, teachers, secretaries, and administrators. These auditors spend time drilling down into the heart of the way we do business at our school. Best of all, the constructive criticism they offer allows us to understand and make effective change. I am looking forward to this opportunity, and will keep you posted. The Power of RED! Thanks for choosing Fremont Public Schools. Mr. H |

Good Morning! Hoping you had a good weekend. This week at FMS will be a busy one. We have just under a month to prepare for MEAP testing, and teachers are working hard to get the kids ready. The staff will be busy after school today in Department Meetings, working on pre- and post assessments for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th terms. As mentioned previously, our first HOMEROOMS are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Wednesday is a big sports day as our MS Football team plays at Grant, and Girls Basketball plays against Tri-County. The Power of RED! Thanks for choosing Fremont Public Schools. Mr. H |

Good Morning! Today is Picture Day at Fremont Middle School. Picture re-take day is scheduled for October 26. The first week of school has been a success. It is nice to see the 6th graders already learning the building procedures, finally getting those locker combinations to work, and remembering where their classes are located. We have an assembly scheduled for the end of the day today, which will include Rules and Regs, the Power of RED, Homeroom discussion, Yahaba visitation in November, and learning the school fight song. Have a great Packer weekend! The Power of RED! Thanks for choosing Fremont Public Schools. Mr. H |

Today is picture day! We also held our annual sexual harassment meeting with the freshmen. The boys met with me and the girls met with Mrs. Wightman. It is a difficult message to deliver as we don’t want to scare the kids but want them to be aware that their actions could lead to terrible consequences. We just want them to be safe! The boys had a lot of questions for me regarding cell phones and various procedures. I like that part of the discussion. It gives me a chance to get to know the kids and vice-versa. |

Good Morning! The Power of RED! In our homerooms next week, FMS students will have an opportunity to create an acronym for R-E-D. and what it means to be a Fremont Middle School student. I would also like to let you know that our HOMEROOMS will be much more involved this school year. Homerooms will account for student council members, involvement in MEAP preparation, welcome activities for guests from other schools and countries, physical and healthy choices, and drug-free assemblies. We are looking forward to HOMEROOMS this year. Thanks for choosing Fremont Public Schools. Mr. H |

Last night was the largest Freshmen Orientation I have ever been a part of. It was great to see all the students and parents. I also appreciate all of the staff who was able to attend. Today is one of my favorite days of the year. All the freshmen come in and try to find their way around the school. I love being out in the halls and helping them do their locker combinations and showing them where their classes are. It gives me a chance to meet some great kids and establish a relationship with parents. I can’t wait for Tuesday!!! |
