Filed under: Future of Fremont, High School, News (C) — fpsblog @ 1:07 PM

The Fremont school board unanimously agreed to petition Michigan’s Department
of Treasury for a $39.9 million bond proposal, the first step in local efforts to
build a new high school.

The project would include seeking a purchasing option for the Wagonmaker Farms property
on 56th Street near the Newaygo County Fairgrounds.

School Superintendent Dr. John Kingsnorth said that the treasury petition is required
because of the state’s backing of local bond issues. Continue Reading

Filed under: Future of Fremont, High School, News (C) — fpsblog @ 1:03 PM

Following 12 months of study and community discussions, a Fremont citizens committee
is recommend ing that a new high school be built on property owned by Wagenmaker
Farms on 56th Street.

The recommendation, presented to the school board on Monday night, encourages the

Find the Future in Fremont Committee Survey Underway

Find the Future in Fremont committee survey underway

The Find the Future in Fremont committee is well into their study of four possible building sites the committee has identified for a new high school.

Part of their work involves a “four locations” survey that is now available online and in the school district newsletter that was recently mailed to homes in the community

The committee is asking all community members to share their thoughts about each of the locations, either by completing and returning the survey from the newsletter or by taking the anonymous survey here.

These locations are west of the high school gym, behind the career tech center, near the middle school, and on the county fairgrounds property south of the athletic complex.

Each location is being assessed using six criteria: Education, Safety and Security, Community Perception, Growth/Expandability, Technology and Green, and Marketing. Each site has its advantages, each has challenges. Your response to the community survey is an important, vital, part of this assessment.

Please take a few moments today to share your thoughts with the Find the Future in Fremont committee. They are working hard this fall to complete their study, and will make their recommendation to the Board of Education in December.
