7/23/2008 Times Indicator Advertorial – Find the Future in Fremont

How do we prepare our students to be ‘World Ready?’ This was the question of the year for Fremont Public Schools’ staff, students and members of the community.

The committees that came together around the topics World Ready, Technology, and Community Connections made their presentations to the board a few weeks ago. In late June, the Facilities committee was ready to sum up their work.

David Byrne and Scott Sherman served as this committee’s co-chairs, with Mr. Byrne outlining the committee’s findings for the board. Beginning with building repairs and improvements in mind, the committee worked on a master facilities plan for the district. This, Mr. Byrne told the board, sharpened the committee’s attention on the high school as their highest priority for recommended improvements.

Their conclusion: Fremont’s current high school not only cannot serve the future needs of students, it cannot be adequately maintained even for its present use. Continue Reading…

S3 Committee Identifies Four Potential Fremont High School Sites

S3 Facilities Committee member Dave Byrne made the presentation to the board, beginning with a quick review of the committee’s process. According to Byrne, the committee began its discussions by developing a master plan for the district, focusing on needed repairs and areas of improvement. The Fremont High School facility was identified as the number one area needing improvement.

Byrne said that the need for vast changes and improvements in the high school facility was so apparent, the committee decided to divide into subcommittees and study the possibilities for updating the facility. Each subcommittee ended up studying not only the existing high school, but also possible sites for a new facility. In the end, four possible areas were identified by the committee, including the current high school location, property north of NCRESA, a site on the current middle school property, and on the fairgrounds’ property. …Full Article

Fremont Public Schools to Address Concerns Raised In Surveys

School Superintendent John Kingsnorth said that the survey responses provided a wealth of information, which was used as district and community members met to build a “Strategies for Student Success” (or “S3”) strategic plan.
