Major cuts made to the School Aid Fund
9/24/2009
Moments ago the School Aid Conference Committee passed the 2009-10 School Aid Act (HB 4447) out of committee. The bill, HB 4447, contains $482.8 million in cuts from current year spending. The bulk of the reduction, $346.4 million, would come from the per pupil decrease. That would equate to $218 per student.
The bill also would cut in half funding for the Great Start Readiness program, cuts ISD funding by 45% and eliminates funding for school bus inspections as well as other significant cuts to categorical programming.
The legislation is expected to be voted out of the Senate and House within 24 hours. It is imperative that you contact your lawmakers to oppose these cuts now.

7/28/2009 – Design for New High School Chosen
Here is the electronic copy of the option that was selected by the design committee
last night. This will be taken by the architect to develop another set of variations
to have the committee discuss on August 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school multi
purpose room. It was a remarkable process that so many of the members agreed with
this option.
