Host Orchard View struggled against Fremont’s full court press from the start, committing
11 turnovers in the first quarter to fall behind 21-4. The host Cardinals finished
with 21 turnovers. Fremont’s Kaitlin VanBoven led all scorers with 12 points.

The Packers started the New Year showing little signs of rust from their lengthy
layoff as they ran out to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter then never looked back,
cruising to their fourth straight victory in a season marred by weather related
cancellations. Kelsey Moon, Michaelia Breuker and Ellie Brewster shared scoring
honors for Fremont with 10 apiece.

Host Fremont used a big first quarter to roll past Ludington. The Packers led 17-4
after one quarter and 29-15 by halftime. Fremont finished with a 18-14 field goal
advantage including 6-0 in 3-point field goals. The Packer’s Kelse Moon, Ellie Brewster
and Michaelia Breuker all had 10 points. Nikki Arner led the Orioles with 16 points.

Fremont wins at Newaygo

Fremont’s senior-laden starting lineup took on a youthful Newaygo squad on
Thursday night and showed their experience by patiently working their way to a 27-14
lead on their way to a 59-38 victory.
The Packers used a lot of ball movement in their half court offense to break through
the Lions’ defense, often working it into Kelse Moon, who tossed in 13 points
in the fist half. The Lions couldn’t seem to convert scoring opportunities
early on and struggled gamely to make up the difference, but Fremont’s girls
kept control of the game with a balanced scoring attack and some timely defensive
stops.
The Lions got 16 points from sophomore Caroline Heitzman, who seemed to grow more
confident in her shot as the game progressed. Newaygo also got 8 each from Jamie
Doxtater and Shelby Cook. Moon led the Pack in scoring, with Michaelia Breuker accounting
for 10 points and Kaitlin Van Boven adding 9.

Lions with 16 points and Jamie Doxtater scored 10.

At Fremont, the Packers came out on fire and built a 22-4 lead after one quarter
behind Michaelia Breuker’s seven first-quarter-points. Breuker led the Packers
with 13 points, Kelse Moon added 12 and Gabby Lounsberry had five steals.

Fremont jumped out to a 10-2 lead and closed the game with a 14-6 fourth-quarter
run to defeat the Vikings. Kelse Moon had 17 points for Fremont and Michaelia Breuker
scored 10 points. Alaina Sweeney and Kiah Teunissen scored 11 and 10 points for
Tri County, respectively.
