High School Sports – Fall 2009 Update
As the fall season is nearing an end, I just want to send a quick email and let everyone know what is taking place in the world of Fremont Athletics.
Soccer
The boys soccer just concluded their season with a great district run. The boys lost this past Saturday in the district final to Sparta, the boys played extremely hard throughout district tournament.
Cross Country
The boys cross country team recently won the Lakes 8 conference and are gearing up for another regional title. The girls cross country team is also gearing up for the regional meet this weekend.
Tennis
Paul Blais had an outstanding season and went to the state tournament after placing second in the region.
Volleyball
Volleyball is battling it out with Fruitport and Spring Lake for the top three spots in the Lakes 8. As conference play comes to an end this weekend, they are getting prepared to defend their district title within the couple weeks.
Swimming
Destiny Noordyke has qualified for the state tournament and Coach Pekel is hoping that a few more girls are going to have their opportunity to qualify for state in the last couple meets.
Football
The football team finished second in the league behind Spring Lake. The football team has qualified for the playoffs and opens the district tournament against Big Rapids this Friday.
Just a few notes on what is taking place within Athletics. If you know an athlete, be sure to congratulate them on all their hard work throughout the fall season.
Thanks,

The Packers fell to Ludington by 16 points on Tuesday, with the 16 points coming from Ludington’s divers. In the swimming lanes, however, the Packers swam neck and neck with the Orioles.
At Thursday’s meet, the Packers gave South Haven another close run.
Top placings of the night included:
• Destiny Noordyk taking two individual first places in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard backstroke.
• The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Noordyk, Kara Robart, Annie Niquette and Brooke Matthews also placed first with an outstanding best time.
• Matthews posted two individual second places in the 50 free and 100 free.
• Niquette took second in the 200-yard freestyle.
• The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Tara Weaver, Felicia Trevino, Jordan Crandell and Megan Bridges posted a second place finish.
