Wrestling – Week of 12/3/2008 Summary
Area wrestlers begin new season

Fremont 3-0
Area wrestlers began their season last week, with matches on Wednesday and Saturday.
The defending state champion Hesperia team hosted Allendale, Shelby and Newaygo
for a match on Wednesday, and also collected toys for the Toys for Tots campaign.
The audience donated toys in return for free admission to the event. The Panthers
beat Allendale and Newaygo, with most Hesperia wrestlers winning both matches.
Newaygo also faced Shelby and fell to their opponents by 66 to 18. Austin Dingledine
(130 lbs.), Larry Bulson (145 lbs.), and Ryan Carlson (285 lbs.) each added six
points to Newaygo’s score.
Fremont also hosted a quad meet on Wednesday, beating Mason County Central by 60-24.
The Packers fell to Whitehall by 50-24.
Fremont wrestlers who won both matches of the night include Mike Dunbar (125 lbs.),
Hunter Blake (130 lbs.), Brad Jones (135 lbs.), and Jordan Graham (152/160 lbs.).
On Saturday, Holton hosted teams from Fremont, Morley-Stanwood and Montague.
Fremont went 3-0 in the tournament, with Holton in second place (2-1), Morley-Stanwood
in third place (1-2) and Monague in fourth place (0-3).
Fremont’s undefeated wrestlers included Theron Blake (112 lbs.), Mike Dunbar (125
lbs.), Hunter Blake (130 lbs.), Brad Jones (135 lbs.), RJ Hawes (140 lbs.) and Jacob
Sella (145 lbs.).
Holton’s David Whitney (119 lbs.) also went undefeated in the tournament.

Boys Wrestling – State Results
Congratulations WRESTLERS for placing at State competition this past weekend: Brad Jones – 4th place, Tim Carpenter – 5th place, Mike Dunbar – 6th place.
